Tom stands before a piece of art and Brian approaches him. Tom does not know that Brian is the artist and tells him that the paintings are lies--that they mask the true sadness of the artist. Brian introduces himself as the artist and thanks Tom for his honesty. There is immediate chemistry between the two. They go back to Brian's studio/loft and make love. A gently loving relationship begins and they are happy together. Later, Brian is preparing for another showing of his work. But, his is blocked and frustrated.
